Trail Camera – Suitable for Hunting and Surveillance
Trail cameras can be used for various purposes. The main goal of a trail camera is the observation and documentation of wildlife in nature. This can be done by taking photos or videos of animals to see which species are present in the area and at what times they visit feeding places.
Placing the Camera in the Field
Trail cameras are usually placed at feeding spots or along animal trails. Mounted on a tree, they can capture images of wildlife such as foxes, wild boars, roe deer, and red deer.
Trail Camera Technology
There are many types of trail cameras on the market, differing in technical features and specifications. There are photo and video models, as well as MMS/GPRS cameras.
In a standard camera, photos and videos are saved on an SD card, requiring the owner to regularly check the camera to read the card.
An MMS/GPRS camera, however, also has a memory card but can transmit images via a SIM card at low cost to the owner’s email address. This allows you to see almost in real time what is happening in the field without having to retrieve the SD card frequently. Cameras with MMS/GPRS functionality are ideal for remote locations or even for use abroad.
Cameras with Low-Cost GPRS Transmission
These cameras feature a built-in GSM module, allowing them to automatically take photos when movement is detected and send them via the GSM network.
They can also use GPRS, enabling transmission for as little as €0.01 per photo. With a KPN prepaid SIM card, it costs around €0.014 per photo. A KPN SIM only works in the Netherlands; for example, in Germany, you need a German SIM card.
We can pre-configure these cameras for use in the Netherlands so that you only need to turn them on – the photos will then be sent directly to your email.
Configuration for use abroad is also possible upon request.
Cameras with No Glow 940 nm – Invisible IR for Humans and Animals
These trail cameras are equipped with special 940 nm blacklight IR LEDs or a blacklight filter.
With this technology, the flash is completely invisible – even the red LED glow cannot be seen.
This makes the camera fully undetectable at night and ideal for surveillance purposes.
